Paella

The paella originated in the Valencian region of Eastern Spain. There are various claims to its actual birthplace but it was probably invented in Valencia.

This area of Spain is known as  LA CUNA DE LA PAELLA  which translates literally to mean THE CRADLE OF THE PAELLA. Chef and co-owner Mayte prepares her Paella to a very old very good recipe which has been used by her family for as long as they can remember.

The best known paella is the Seafood Paella as the Valencian region is coastal however the original Paella was made with meat.        The Valencian Paella is made with pork ribs and chicken with seasonal variations such as duck in August and pelotas or meatballs during the Christmas period.    (rabbit is also used in Spain but here in the UK we only add rabbit on request)

The most important ingredient of any Paella is the rice which we import directly from Valencia.
